In this guide, we will show you how to set a category on your products using one of our file-based import systems, such as the Excel import feature.
We will also provide links to documents containing the unique category ID:s you can use to set a category on your products.
The first step is getting a file containing your product's SKU or Sello ID, this can be done using the Excel export feature in Sello.
Here's how:
- Log into Sello.
- In the top-left menu, find "Import / export".
- Go to the "Export" section.
- Click: "Export Inventory".
- Select the columns you want to export.
- Click: "Export Inventory".
Next, you'll need to add the category column for the channel you are setting categories for, to do that, you need to find out what to name it.
Here's how:

Next, you need to find the unique category ID:s that tells Sello which category to set on the product. Below is a list of links to documents containing categories and ID:s for our connected sales channels.
Simply find your desired channel and click the link, which will download a .csv file to your device.
Google Categories:
This list contains Google's own category hierarchy, this is used by the "Sello Category" -feature in the inventory, read more here.
Once you have found out what to name your column and located your category ID:s, you need to edit your file.
Here's how:
- Open your exported file.
- Add a new column.
- Name the column according to the legend in Sello.
- Input your desired category ID:s under your category column.
- Save the file as .xlsx.
The last step is to import the file in Sello.
Here's how:
- Log into Sello.
- In the top-left menu, find "Import / export".
- Find "Excel" in the Import -section.
- Click: "Import".
- Choose: "Update products with my file".
- Select your file.
