In this guide, we will show you how to upload images to products in Sello with Excel.
This is a great way to add images to products if you wish to add a lot of images at once to multiple products, or if you have a group of products that all use the same images.
The first step to adding images with Excel is to create your file, you will need the column for "Id", "Sku", "Property EAN" and "Property "GTIN for this. You can read more about updating with Excel here.
Once you have the file containing all products, follow the below steps:
- Add a column with the name: Images
- Add the image URL:s in the cells, separated by a comma like the 3 links I added below:
Keep in mind: The images in the file will over-write all images in Sello, if you wish to keep the existing images on the product you need to include them in the import as well, or they will disappear. - Done! The file is ready to be imported now.
My images are not being added to the products
You might run into a problem with the images you just uploaded with Excel not showing up on the products, this can be due to a few different reasons that we will explain below.
Invalid image URL
If the image URL is not valid Sello will not be able to add it to the product, make sure that the URL you imported leads to an image by copying it directly from the file you imported if you experience any problems.
Keep in mind that Sello only supports images with http or https.
Image URL not leading to an image
In some cases the image URL might lead to an image now, but did not lead to an image when the file was imported.
If this is the case, try importing the image again once you can see the image when following the URL that is in the file.
Unsupported characters in image URL
Sello only supports image URL:s with characters in UTF-8 encoding, if you have other characters in the URL you will need to remove those before importing the image.
Image URL contains "?"
Sello will cut off an image URL after every "?" character.
This means that if the first "?" character in the URL is in the middle, the URL will be cut off in the middle and become invalid, since it will no longer lead to an image.
To test if this is the problem, follow the below steps:
- Paste your image URL into an empty document
- Remove everything after the "?" character
- Click on the URL, does it still lead to an image, or has it become an invalid link?
- If the link becomes invalid, you will need to remove the "?" from the original URL and then reimport the new URL to Sello again.
Too large image
If the image you are trying to add is very large, Sello may not be able to register and add it to a product. There is not a set limit for image size, but as a rule of thumb anything under 4 MB will be fine, and in most cases images up to 8 MB can be added without issues as well.
If the image is over 8 MB and is not able to be imported, try decreasing the size and upload again.
