In this guide, we will show you how to create a product group.
A product group consists of multiple copies of the same product with differences in e.g. size or color. Each product in the group is called a variation.
When viewed on a channel the product will be presented using the main product and buyers can then choose another color, model, or size using a drop-down list.
Group types
The first step is to make sure you've created all the products. Either create the products from scratch or copy the original until you have enough products.
You then need to figure out what to base the group on, there are three types of group types:
Size
This type will make size the value buyers choose between on the marketplace.
It will be represented by a single image in the list of products on the channel. For buyers to be able to switch between variations, make sure a value has been put into a "Size" property or choose a custom property in the "Varying property" found in the group settings.
Color
This type will make color the value buyers choose between on the marketplace. It will be represented by one image per color in the list of products on the channel. For buyers to be able to switch between variations, make sure a value has been put into a "Color" property or choose a custom property in the "Varying property" found in the group settings.
Model
This type will make model the value buyers choose between on the marketplace. It will be represented by a single image in the list of products on the channel
For buyers to be able to switch between variations, make sure a value has been put into the "Model" property or choose a custom property in the "Varying property" found in the group settings.
You can input whatever you want into this property, we will then use this to set the variations apart.
You'll also need to choose a main product, this product will be shown in the thumbnail on the marketplace and will be the default variation shown to the buyer.
Varying properties
This setting lets you choose a property of your choice that will be used as the main attribute for the group.
This is applicable in situations where you might have values that do not exist in our value-lists or if you want to use more than one attribute to group your products on, keep in mind that not all channels support these types of groups.
When you have made sure all products are accounted for, it is time to group them.
Here's how:
- Log into Sello.
- Go to: “Inventory”.
- Find and select the products you want to group.
- Click: "Actions".
- Click: “Group”.
- Choose group type and main product in the pop-up.
- Click: “Create”.
Done!
Good to know:
- To make changes to the group, press the three dots to the left of the group.
- To add another product to the group, click the three dots, and then click: “Add variation”.
- Products that are grouped can be distinguished by the grey frame surrounding them. The main product is marked with a black heart.
- It’s a good idea not to have your products up for sale on a marketplace when grouping them.
- Some marketplaces don't support grouped products. Should you activate a group on one such channel, the products will be put up as single products.
