In this guide, we will look at mapping your own category to your connected sales channel categories.
If you use a system from which we can fetch categories, you'll see them here. If you don't see your own categories here, email us at support@sello.io and we will evaluate whether we can fetch your source categories or not.
When you have created a connection to at least one sales channel, temporary or live, you can start mapping your own categories to those of the marketplace.
The category mapping is based on a column called source category, which is the category used in your own system.
Once a category is mapped, all products using a specific source category will have the mapped category applied automatically.
Here is a short video detailing how to map your own categories to a sales channel's counterpart:
Instructions:
- Log into Sello
- Go to: Settings -> Products -> Categories
- Find your desired source category and expand its list
- Click: Select category under your desired sales channel and find an appropriate category
The changes made here are automatically saved and the next time a product using the source category is saved, the mapped category will be applied.
Good to know
- If you add a category for a sales channel on the product itself, that category will be used instead of the category you have mapped. To use the mapped category again, you need to remove the category that has been added to the product.
- If you receive an error for invalid category on a product that is using a mapped category, it means the category that has been mapped has been removed from the sales channel, please re-map it!
