In this guide, we will talk about the section in the Edit -window called Details
In this section, you can add product details (attributes), which is all additional information about your product. There is a large number of properties you can add here, too many to cover in this guide.
Some marketplaces require that certain properties are present and filled out on your product, mostly depending on category chosen. Required properties will have a red asterisk next to its name - not filling these out will result in a failure to synchronize the product to the marketplace.
Most channels have at least a couple of required attributes, this differs from channel to channel and is completely regulated there, this means that Sello cannot control what you have to fill out in order to get your product live.
Sello cannot control what is and what isn't required when it comes to attributes imported from a sales channel. If you are faced with required attributes that ask for information you do not have for example, or if the information requested does not pertain to the product - You need to contact the channel which the requirement belongs to.
The required attributes needed to be able to put your product up for sale are downloaded and shown as soon as you have selected a category for your product.
Some channels, such as Amazon, will have different requirements depending on the value inputed in initial required attributes, read more here.
What are optional attributes?
In addition to the required attributes, all channels typically have a selection of optional attributes that can be filled - And making use of these is highly recommended.
What are general attributes?
The attributes found at the top of the details tab can be considered general attributes - Only a fraction of these will be sent to sales channels, i.e. they are for internal use only or used as placeholders.
Here is a selection of attributes that usually is re-used in the channel -specific section:
- Brand
- Manufacturer
- Barcode number (EAN, GTIN, UPC, ISBN)
- Material
- Color
- Size
So filling these out is always recommended.
What are channel -specific attributes?
These attributes are based on the sales channels' requirements and can only be used for the specific channel they have been imported from.
By expanding a section for a specific channel, you will find the associated attributes, both required and optional.
Sello will show the number of required attributes that needs to be filled on the channel specific sections in their unopened state, it their opened state, each required attribute will have an asterisk next to its name, and if the attribute does not have a value, the corresponding field will be red.
How do I add more general attributes?
If you need to add a specific attribute, you can do so by clicking: Add more details, searching for your desired attribute and then clicking the result to add it.
-Please note that General attributes typically won't be sent to sales channels-
Sello will try and re-use as many general attributes as possible, but keep in mind that due to the ever changing nature of channel -specific attributes and differences in names, IDs and data-types, you will most likely have to fill the same information more than once.
What is the minimum amount of info i need to add?
Technically, making sure all required properties are present and filled out is enough for Sello to be able to put the product up for sale on the selected marketplace, but if you want your products to be searchable, you have to make use of more than just the basic, required properties.
If you don’t use make use of optional attributes it may result in your products not being visible until actively searched for.
Below you will find some of the properties we recommend you make use of on all products.
- Brand
- Manufacturer
- Barcode number (EAN, GTIN, UPC, ISBN)
- Material
- Color
- Size
