In this guide, we will talk about the section in the "Edit" -window called “Category”.
In this section, you control what category your product should be placed in on your channels. There are two ways of doing this, either use the "Sello category" -feature or choose a specific marketplace category for each individual channel.
Sello category feature:
This feature utilizes Google’s category hierarchy to automatically apply the category you choose here for use on all connected channels.
So instead of finding the same category for all connected channels and setting these separately, you only need to make your choice once and Sello will then find the closest match and apply that category automatically.
If you are unhappy with the suggested category, you can always change it. Just find the channel below, click the tab, it will expand and you can map your product to another category.
There is also info on your last picked category, which you can find at the top of the section.
Specific marketplace category:
Simply find your channel in the list below, press to expand it and set a category.
For some webshops like Prestashop you can have several different categories, just press the “+ Add another category” button to add more and the ”x” icon to remove it.
Good to know:
- You have to put your product in the last category in the “category tree” i.e choose the last “child” category, if you don’t, some channels will reject your product.
- Your webshop categories will always be different than the other marketplace categories, since these need to be created by you, manually.
